Holiday Gift Wrap

Wrapping holiday presents is sometimes work, and sometimes fun. In my family, some members of the family are remembered for their lack of talent in the gift wrap department. These people might stick a ready made bow on the outside of the brown paper bag that the store placed the item in.

There are many more things that you can do to make the present special.
1. Choose gift wrap with a pattern/subject that represents the recipient or the giver
2. Fold the gift inside tissue paper and place it in a bag or box
3. Use a decorated bag or box to hold the present
4. Mix and match wrapping paper with tissue paper, gift bags and favor boxes.

Gift Wrap - Balloons

Everyone uses gift wrapping paper - well almost everyone - my nephew is noted for using paper bags only!

Whether you are preparing a special gift for a momentous occasion (house warming, graduation, award, etc.), or for those calendar occasions that people memorialize (birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, etc.), most everyone wraps the gifts they will be giving. Usually the design on the paper means something to the recipient and/or the giver.

A hobbyist might want the recipient to know who the gift is from and choose to wrap all gifts in a design that shows off their hobby. Or, the giver might want to acknowledge the recipients hobby. Perhaps the hobby is sailing - nautical prints, boats, compasses, anchors, etc. might be chosen.

The recipient's occupation might determine the design. Tools of the trade for a painter, a doctor, a fireman, pilot, etc.

With the holidays coming up, I thought I would begin to share the new papers being created at Zazzle.

Polydactyls are out there

Anyone who has a pet feels a special bond with similar animals.

Several years ago, I adopted a black polydactyl cat from the local pet store. I was told that "Black" cats were difficult to adopt out, plus his "deformity" added another concern against his being adopted. Neither of these "problems" concerned me.

I brought home the eight month old male cat and named him "Darby".

As with many things in life, there are some things that you are not aware of until the day they are brought to your attention. I once had a "Russian Blue" cat (short gray hair, big ears, long tail). I'd never seen such an animal before. After adopting Perri, I began to see this type of cat everywhere I looked.

Well the same with the polydactyl. I may have heard of the anomaly, but I had never before encountered it in person. After taking Darby into my home, I began seeing magazine articles, photos, and other polydactyls. My brother and his wife visited later in the year and have since adopted a polydactyl of their own.
